If Disneyland was Pixarland

If you’ve ever visited Disney parks, or have ever only dreamed of visiting them, it can’t be a completely outrageous thought to think about how you would design your own land. I remember after visiting Disneyland for the second time when I was 10 years old, I came home and spent so much time on Rollercoaster Tycoon creating my own version of it. I’ve found that I’ve always wanted it to be even more heavily themed; more lands that are based on specific movies, things from movies that just make sense for them to be turned into a ride, and appreciating the classics more. After some thought, I’ve decided to design my own “Pixarland”, that would be different from today’s Pixar Pier (since Pixar Pier is literally just recycled Paradise Pier, sorry not sorry). Here’s a few things I would include:

The Focal Point

Instead of having a castle like all Disney parks, the center of the park would have a large sculpture of the Pixar luxo lamp, with the luxo ball sitting right underneath it. It would be a popular photo spot and tower over all of the other buildings within the park. It would be similar to the structure at Pixar campus, but with the ball and lamp closer together to save space.

Land #1: Toy Story Land

Named after the one in Walt Disney World, this land would immerse you into all 4 of the films in different ways. Here are the attractions within the land:

Andy’s Room Coaster: There would be an outdoor, larger than life version of Andy’s room, with his bed, his dresser, his bookshelf, and the toy bin. A hot wheels track would act as the rollercoaster track, and us, as the guests, would be the scale size of a toy, and ride through a rigorous outdoor rollercoaster around Andy’s room.

Al’s Toy Barn Dark Ride: This one is pretty self explanatory, the ride vehicle would be Barbie’s car, Barbie (Jodi Benson) would narrate the ride through speakers on the vehicles, and you’d ride through the aisles of the toy store. You’d pass by the huge Buzz Lightyear aisle, dodge huge bouncy balls falling down, and then end would be you exiting the store and a Zurg magazine falling down, just missing your vehicle.

Haunted Sunnyside Daycare: A haunted mansion type of ride, except you’d be at sunnyside. It would start off really light-hearted and colorful, but as the ride goes on, the toys tell you to turn back and not go further, revealing how scary the daycare really is. Lotso would narrate the ride, starting with a friendly inviting voice, and eventually getting darker and deeper near the end.

Disney Antique Shop: Just like the antique shop in Toy Story 4, it would be designed exactly like it, except they would sell vintage Disney merchandise and other collectibles.

Carnival Games Boardwalk: Similar to the boardwalk in California Adventure, there would still be carnival games modeled after the ones in Toy Story 4, with prizes like Ducky and Bunny.

Land #2: The Nature Land

This land will have some movies that are based in outdoor settings, such as A Bug’s Life, Wall-E, and The Good Dinosaur. Here are the attractions:

Flik’s Flyers: I would simply bring back this ride. It’s too good not to!

Jumpin’ Dandelions: Similar to the Jumpin’ Jellyfish ride at California Adventure, it would be the same concept except instead of jellyfish, it would be dandelions, just like the one Flik rides in the film.

Auto-Axiom: An Autopia-type ride, except instead of cars, the ride vehicles would be exactly like the seats the humans sit in on the Axiom ship in the movie. You could drive all through the different pathways through the Axiom, with a real window outside the attraction showing the tree on Ant Island. In the Pixar theory, A Bug’s Life happens after Wall-E, and the plant he carries around turns into the big tree.

The two big focal points of the land would be the ant island tree, as well as a large statue of Arlo the dinosaur, to celebrate the Good Dinosaur.

Land #3: Monsters Land

This land will include the films Monsters Inc, Monsters University, and Brave. In the Pixar theory, Brave is tied in with the other two films because the witch in Brave is actually Boo.

A Doors Coaster: The most obvious one to create would be a thrilling coaster based on the doors scene in Monsters Inc.

Witch’s Cottage: an Indiana Jones thrill level ride would take you through the witch’s cottage in Brave, with magical effects all through the ride, and a door at the end of the ride that looks just like Boo’s.

Monsters University: A building like Animation Academy in California Adventure, you can do meet and greets with characters, a “turtle talk” but instead it’s Mike teaching you how to do stand-up comedy, Sulley teaching you how to scare in a live performance, and a room to teach you how to draw Randell with different backgrounds and patterns on him.

Monsters Incorporated: A real-life replica of the factory, where you walk-through and see the different floors and rooms. You can see Celia at her desk, the scarer of the month wall, the lockeroom, the scare floor, and more.
