My Blog's 3rd Anniversary

Wow, it’s officially been 3 years since I began writing under the name The Disney Classics. I remember when I was in the 4th grade, whenever one of my good friends would come over I would force them to listen to me talk about Disneyland, when it was built, why one ride was better than others, and talk all about the FastPass system (ahh FastPass… what a simpler time that was). I’m so grateful to be here, now, still sharing that knowledge with the world and having the opportunity to reach people in a way I never thought possible. My blog has seen tremendous growth over the last year… growth that I wasn’t expecting. I merely wrote about things I was interested in, things that I wish I knew the answers for, and it turns out, you all want to know the answers too! Thank you so much for continuing to read and continuing to find ways to celebrate a company where imagination is encouraged. Much like my 1st anniversary and 2nd anniversary blog posts, let’s take a look at what happened here this year:

What were my most successful blog posts this year?

One blog post that I worked tirelessly on but didn’t think would gain as much attention as it did was The History of the Evolving Animation Styles of Disney. It’s no secret I’m partial to the classic, hand-drawn animation, but this post stemmed from the thought of how much the process has changed in the last century. I’m so pleased it’s doing as well as it is.

The runner up is The Struggle for the Rights of Winnie the Pooh. I knew this one was going to do alright considering it was the first year that the original A.A Milne character became public domain. Before writing this one I had no idea about the legal issues surrounding the story, how many times the rights went back and forth, and how long it took Disney to actually fully obtain the characters.

I’ve become one of the top search results under “Who are the voices of Mickey and Minnie Mouse?” because of my post Mickey and Minnie’s Voice Actors Real Life Romance. To be able to be a part of the sharing of Wayne and Russi’s love story is an absolute honour.

A post that I went into thinking that I would just write because I liked it, not because I thought anyone else would be particularly interested, was The Impact of Jiminy Cricket on the Walt Disney Company. To my surprise, so many others appreciate the little narrator cricket, too!

Who Visited my blog this year?

In comparison to last year’s 1,197 visitors, I had a whopping 11,942 visits from May 28, 2021 to May 28, 2022. My engagement has gone up well over 725%, and I’m so grateful for that and that my work is being recognized. My pageviews are over 14,000, many coming from search engines. Majority of my audience is still from the United States and Canada, with the United Kingdom following closely behind, Germany next, then Australia, the Netherlands, France, Philippines, Japan, Luxembourg, Sweden, Brazil, Italy, and many, many more. How exciting!

What can you all look forward to for this next year?

After posting almost every single week for 3 years, you can imagine that thinking of content is difficult. Though it can be a lot of the time, I still find myself asking questions that aren’t common knowledge. Who is Cinderella inspired by? What made Disney decide to try CGI? How has Pixar changed over the years? What other abandoned Disneyland rides are there? These questions and so many more are what will be my focus for the next year, and I hope you’re interested in finding out the answers too.

Thank you, thank you. This blog is still for those who thrive off of nostalgia and love to reminisce. I am right there with you.
